Winter has given way to sping in Calenndor. The seasonal warm winds of the Talzhemian Ocean have brought with them rumors from Westernesse, land of the elves: it appears that Ajax Avelhar's plot to restore the monarchy there, and install himself as king, have not gone as planned. The exact details are unclear, although sailors on trading vessels back from the Elflands claim that "The False Star" has been (depending on which rumors are to be trusted) disowned by his family, exiled, or killed.

In the meantime, Solinox Avelhar's absence has been noted amongst those in the know, and he is said to have been summoned to Westernesse in the wake of his brother's failed designs. It has been two years since his departure.

Meanwhile, in recent years in Ansteorra, the Royalist faction in Parliament has split in two. The Legitimists, a group of reactionaries who openly call for radical changes in the kingdom's structure of government--including the dissolution of Parliament and the return of absolute monarchy--have been butting heads with the Arreonists, supporters of the liberal-minded claimant to the throne from the Arreon branch of the House of Goridona.

The only progress that has been made was the appointment of Lord Strathmore as Regent, who has sat on the throne of Ansteorra during the interregnum for little over a year. Things have been relatively peaceful both in the realm and in the Freelands since that time.
