In a tree, a lone elf sat. But this was no normal elf, no. It was a most curious fellow, with blazing red-orange hair, a long black robe, and polished boots. On most of his clothes, an insignia shaped like a flaming "V" could be found, though what it could signify few would know.
Looking about, and appearing quite bored, he waited for what he knew must happen...he waited for his family to find out he was here.

Hours later, in the tavern, the robed tree that was fast becoming a common spectacle frowned, and began rummaging around inside his great black covering. The act of plucking out a single piece of lavarock, which was glowing brightly, was enough to send him into a great rage, wherein he went outside, and began casting a spell, one of the most terrible that he knew. Less than a minute later, a dozen glowing orbs of green lanced out from his hands, soon blistering the sky with huge bursts of light, bathing the kingdom with a sickly green light. Moments later, the night returned to normal, or so it looked.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The strange elf stopped toying with the string of flame he had been weaving between his hands, and took a moment to look up at the spectacle. "Silly brother. Always the flashing and the burning with you, yes." A light giggle escaped his lips, and he turned back to his game of cat's cradle, waiting for his imminent discovery.

Moments later, the robed tree, along with a warrior and a mage, confronted the elf in his tree. The tree's weapon, a massive scythe, snapped out, and a clipped conversation, laced with curses, ensued.
Finally, enraged, the tree launched a trio of darts at the elf from the end of his weapon, scorching marks into the tree. But this was just a distraction, for then the spell the druid had enacted earlier kicked in, and full dozens of glowing green balls of fire were after the elf. Leaping down, he delivered his "message" - an obsidian coffer - full into the chest of the warrior, and thundered off on his horse, which had been tethered nearby. Snarling, the elf urged his mount to speed, closely followed by the orbs. Moments later, all were outside the gate, and the elf enacted a desperate teleportation spell, and he disapeared, unaimed (A blind jump, and most dangerous indeed), leaving his hapless mount to be utterly consumed by the ravaging fires.

Back with the druid and his companions, a quick inspection further enraged the tree, and he crushed the coffer and it's contents with one root-like foot. Stalking off, he left the coffer where it lie, it's contents revealed as a single lock of hair - red, like the elves, but infinitely softer. Soon after, the tree disapeared into the woods north of the kingdom, which was soon sealed up with branches, walls of thorns, and great and terrible beasts of fae. Several notes were left behind, addressed to various persons, but all identical.

To whom it may concern: I have gone for a few days, but you must be on your gaurd. At least one member of my so-called family has returned to this plane, after centuries of banishment in the abyss. I know not the means of their return, for the banishment should have been permanent, but they have nonetheless, and I have things that must be attended to. Warn off all who would enter the forest to the north, for I can take no chances. My loyal companion, Rast, shall remain behind. Seek him out if you need to contact me.

In mine own hand,
Rivyn Volvagia,
Head gardener of Ansteorra

[Heh, alright. Just as long as nobody points at me and says, "Hey, isn't that the guy who ripped his quest off of Rivyn?" Razz]

The flame haired elf sat outside the arena, watching a friendly spar..
"Oh, yes! Kill him!" He cried, clapping with glee.
The combatants, good friends both, did their best to ignore the unpleasant fellow. After it was over, the female fighter assisted the beaten mage up with one hand, and the crazy, fire haired mage stood off to the side, scowling. Moments later, a sinister smile snaked across his features, and a muttered word brought forth the power of his ring, sending a deadly flash of flame into the mages chest, sending him flying backwards. Moments later, a concerted attack began upon the fellow, and he was soon critically injured. Desperately, he began a dread chant, and despite the groups concerted efforts, it was completed. Just above his head, a massive star of flame was outlined, and soon a roaring column descended upon the already critically injured elven mage. When the fires cleared, in his place stood a massive demon, clad in a suit of flaming plate mail, and with horns branching up more than a dozen feat into the sky. With three powerful punches it layed low one paladin, and smote the warrior woman, Hina, most potently. Despite a concerted attack, the beast flew off, sending down one last rain of burning embers to cover his retreat.
Deep in the shadows of a nearby building, the bleeding elf-mage cast another spell, and disapeared in a burning flare of light.

Deep underground, in an ancient and unused cave, high in the mountains of Launcia, the demon was casting a spell. Soon, he was joined by a rejuvenated elf-mage, and with his potent arcane assistance, began summoning in more of their ilk. Soon, dozens of lesser demons were expanding the small hole in the earth, and the massive demon was consulting with the elf and his generals, a four armed insectoid beast, and a small, but exceedingly clever, imp. Around an onyx table they conferred, long into the night.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

The next morning, the cave had been vastly enlarged, and was filled near to the brim with assorted demons and undead, and another mighty balor (for that is what the one summoned by the elf was) had joined the leading council, accompanied by an onyx skinned humanoid with flowing white hair and no eyes, a black clad figure, demonic of form, and a knight of darkness, clad in plate of black, with glowing red eyes. A conference was held, and the dictum was placed by the leader, the massive balor in charge.
"For now, we wait. Those who can, go to the kingdom incognito. No killings until we have located our wayward sons...and dealt their punishments. And then, we proceed as we had planned, all those years ago."
Sinister grins a few foul chuckles echoed about the table, and a few members of the group departed out the front of the cave, where a massive black door was slowly being levered into place.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Deep within a dark forest, a large pond reflected a scene of burning buildings into the pristine air. At one bank, a massive tree-man kneeled, scowling into the water, muttering to himself.
"Out of the hells, they are. And bringing doom, they do. Stop them, we must."
Out of the forest to his side, a low clicking began, the sound of bone smashing against bone.
In another portion, a titanic figure of dull gray thumped it's waraxe into the ground, rubbing it's hands together to create a dull, grinding noise.
Deep under the earth, a humanoid figure carved from wood stirred, it's hands striking out of the ground, and pulling it's form up, knothole eyes seething.
Deep under the Grimhold, in Xanthia, another figure struggled against it's bonds, massive iron shackles bolted into the living rock holding it into place.
Standing atop a massive Cathedral in Ciest' Dalen, a polished gold figure with it's sword raised high blinked, but remained frozen until a further call issued out.
On top of a mountain, not to far from the cave of a demon, a low rumbling issued out, followed by a slow dribble of magma. Inside the volcano, a pair of burning eyes opened, and began to ever so slowly make their way to the top.
Back in the forest, the tree looked up. "Banish them forever, I will this time."
