The great northern forest, not an overly friendly place to begin with, has been completely sealed off. Significant quantities of the wild elves inside have started patrolling the edges, accompanied by Treants and several Golems. Anyone encountered is promptly escorted to the edge and firmly told to stay out.
Included in this are a significant number of druids, of which a bakers dozen have taken up residence in the inns of Ansteorra.
The sole exception lays with a clan of tight lipped dwarves, small armies of which escort caravans full of steel, tools, and the infamous portable forges. A watchful person would note fewer leave than enter, and there have to be several hundred of them inside the trackless woods.

Reactions
Druids: What the heck's going on in there? We get thrown out of our homes because those half-crazy elves and a bunch of dwarves need privacy to create gods only know what?
Mages, Clerics, and all others magically sensitive: Holy energy flux, Batman! The assembled mystic might of a dwarven nation has to be bouncing spells around in there. Plus there's this distinctly unusual tang...almost...coppery...
General Population: The few that have reason to go in there would react accordingly, but for the most part it merely means more glimpses of the elusive elves that live there. It's said they don't wear clothes, you know.
